Dynmark provides a unique feature to auto-import contacts in Campaign manager which will allow you to drop your contacts file into a secure Dynmark FTP location. This file will automatically be imported by Campaign Manager by matching with the user's import template and also has the option to deploy the campaign straightaway if required .
To successfully auto import the contacts, the campaign template and import template should be created before dropping the contacts file into FTP by following the below link
Once the appropriate campaign template and the import template are set up, the contacts file should be dropped into the secure FTP location.
However there could be instances where the contacts import may fail if the above steps are not followed in the sequential order.
Some of the common reasons for the import failure including how to avoid them are given below
1. The contacts file could have been dropped into the FTP location even before creating the import template. This will cause the import to fail since it can't find any matching import template to the dropped contacts file. So ensure that the corresponding import templates exist before dropping the contacts file.
2. Although import says successful, you could still find some missing fields or difference between the actual contact file and the imported contacts. This usually occurs when new fields are added or existing fields are amended in the contacts file after dropping into the FTP location. So ensure that all the changes are made to the contacts file before dropping into the FTP location which will reflect the contacts exactly as it is in the contacts file after the import.
3. Another reason for missing fields could be due to the mismatch of the header field names between the import template and the contacts file in the FTP location. For instance even a blank space after the field names can still cause mismatch. To avoid this scenario we strongly suggest you to import the actual contacts file only with the header fields when creating the import template so that the header fields in the import template match exactly with the header fields in the contacts file when it is dropped in the FTP location.
To Retry Failed Auto Import: Since auto import occurs only once for a file name, you will need a different file name for the next retry attempt. To retry, delete the dropped file from the FTP(ensuring that you have another copy on your machine). Then rename the file name(we would suggest you to add a number to the file name) and drop it back into the FTP location which should import successfully.
