Sender IDs or Message Originators
It is very common for text messages sent by brands to come from the name of the company as opposed to a number (shortcode or long number). To set up your brand name (or any name) originator, go to "Sender IDs" under the Settings menu in Campaign Manager.
N.B. you can only access this part of the system if you are an administrator.
This page lists all current Sender IDs and their configuration. To edit or delete an ID, click the crayon or trash can icon on its row. To add a new Sender ID, click "Create Sender ID".
You can enter a word or a mobile number:
- If you enter a word, it must be alphanumeric (letters and numbers) and 11 characters or less. Remember that a space is a character.
- If you enter a mobile number you will need to start it with the country code (e.g. 44 for UK) and tick the box ‘This is a Mobile Number’.
Click ‘Save’ to add the new Sender ID. Alphanumeric IDs will immediately be added to the list. To deactivate them, click the crayon icon and change the status to "Inactive" and click "Save".
You cannot edit the text of an alphanumeric ID, you will have to delete and re-add it. This will not affect any messages that have already been deployed.
For Sender IDs that are mobile numbers, the system will automatically send a verification code to that mobile number. You should then reply to that message with the verification code to enable that number as an Originator to receive inbound messages.
