You can configure inbound text messages to be fowarded to an email address. From your email client you can then reply to those text messages.
However if you have an email setup which includes Outlook and Microsoft Exchange server you may find that you are unable to reply to those emails/texts.
The problem is that Exchange treats those emails as SMS messages and then Outlook attempts to use text messaging to reply.
To prevent Exchange from treating these messages as text messages you can add a transport rule on your Exchange Hub Server to strip out the header which causes this.
To do this create a new transport rule
Give the rule a meaningful name
On the conditions page select when the message header contains words
Complete the rule and test
