The first thing you must do to set up your App Space, is create an Identity. This is a virtual user on the network that will allow you to communicate with your users.
When you first enter settings for a new App Space, you will be directed straight to the Identities page, where a call out will appear, asking you to create your first Identity in order to send messages.
Click “Add Identity” and a dialog will appear…
For your new identity, you must provide:
- ID – the internal identifier for this identity (not visible to your users)
- Avatar – the icon your customers will see when they receive messages from this identity
- From name – the name that your users will see when they receive messages
You can also optionally provide the following details:
- Email address
- Mobile number
At this point, if you would like your new Identity to appear in the “Contacts” view of the mobile or web SDK, you can check the box, “Add to your app as a Standard Contact”. This will allow your users to send you messages to you directly from clicking on the contact in their app.
If you do not want to receive inbound messages, simply do not check the box.
Click “Save Identity” and the identity will be added to the page; you can create up to 5 identities for different uses.
